HELP!!! Iam trying to remove lino adhesive glue from MDF that lays underneith it,?

this is becoming a ***** trying to scrape it off, I am going to put ceramic tiles on the floor instead. Any ideas how to get the glue off?HELP!!! Iam trying to remove lino adhesive glue from MDF that lays underneith it,?
Dont worry about to much, a light scraping is all you need to get rid of the high spots. Because you have to put an underlayment down before you can tile, Like cementboard of fiber rock. You cant lay tile on MDF you will have problems.HELP!!! Iam trying to remove lino adhesive glue from MDF that lays underneith it,?
Consider removing the MDF too. More than likely it is only 1/4'; and is tempered hardboard. 1/4'; deep circular saw cuts in a grid pattern followed by prying with a pitch fork will make for a quick removal.
It might be easier to just pry up the MDF along with the leftover lino, and adhesive, hehehe. Ive done that before. Especially, if the MDF has been water damaged...you would want to go ahead and replace it.





If it is just an underlayment for the linoleum, it will pop up pretty easily... then you can just lay down the tile backer (cement board), after pulling the few nails, screws, or staples, that were holding the MDF in place.





IF-- the MDF is your actual subfloor (not likely, but I'll cover it anyway), it will be about 5/8th'; to 3/4'; thick. I would replace it with a good particle board, or even better, a good quality plywood. Then put the cement board down, and tile.
