What kind of glue/adhesive is used to attach samples in magazines or flyers?

The rubbery, clean-removing blobs that provide a temporary adhesion? What kind of glue/adhesive is used to attach samples in magazines or flyers?
I don't know what it's called unless it's just dried silicone caulk or something similar, but you can buy it in various forms. ';Zots'; is one; it's sold as small dots of the stuff:

There are other materials that provide temporary adhesion though in the form of tapes and temporary or ';repositional'; sprays, glues like Aleene's Tack it Over and Over:

etc... and even rubber cement if it's applied only to one surface then allowed to dry before pressing to the second surface --a technique that also works with some other things.
